Sally had invited me to see the flower arrangements she had designed for a January wedding in a local mansion. As I entered the hall where the ceremony would take place, I felt I was in an springtime garden which made me forget the rain outside. Baskets of narcissus and colorful tulips with curly willow and variegated ivy were placed throughout the hall and along the aisle. An arch beautifully decorated with flowers stood at the end of the aisle. Pedestals with larger arrangements of the same spring flowers were placed around the area where the ceremony would take place. All of these arrangements would be used at the reception as well.

The theme of the bridal party attire was a country garden look. The bridesmaids’ bouquets were casual in design, though elegant at the same time. They included French tulips, interspersed with a few white roses. The bride's bouquet was a symphony of antique David Austin roses. All of the flowers looked so fresh as if they had just been picked moments before.

Sally grew up in the country. As a child, she would pick the wild flowers in the fields near her home and arrange them as centerpieces for the table every night. She loved plants and flowers so much that she studied botany while in college. She worked in several flower shops before opening her studio 7 years ago. Sally uses the freshest flowers from local growers and the San Francisco Flower Market, and also has access to exotic flowers from all over the world.
