This beautiful mansion was built in 1889 by the famous railroad magnate Mr. Smyth as his West Coast residence. After his death, his daughter Julie inherited the estate and made it a center for the arts, hosting elaborate parties attended by celebrities from the movies, entertainment and political arenas. In the early '50s, the estate was purchased by a large hotel chain and became their "showcase" hotel.
Today, the mansion hosts events such as weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, debutante balls, political fund raisers, and sports award dinners. These events take place in the East Wing, while overnight guests are accommodated in the West Wing away from the noise. The room most often used for these events is the Mauve Room. Its soft color, elegant furnishings, and crystal chandeliers make any area of the room a perfect setting for pictures. French doors open to a terrace and adjacent lawn area, surrounded by boxwood hedges and flower beds. The gazebo at one end of the lawn is perfect for ceremonies.
Clients compliment the extraordinary food prepared by the famous California chef and always mention the attentive cheerful staff. The love the event coordinator, who has been with the company for 10 years. She is well versed in any kind of event design and is never too busy to answer all your questions.
Smaller rooms, available for meetings and corporate functions, have audio/visual equipment.
