Automatic Wedding Speech Writer:Groom's Speech

How does this work? Just follow the instructions, choosing the multi-choice boxes, and filling out the forms as they come along.

When you reach the end, hit the "I do" button, and the speech will come up on your screen for you to print out or save to your file.

We'll start by thanking the speaker who introduces you - pick either of these:

And type the speaker's name here:

Then greet everyone. Pick one of these options:

You could say something to let them know how you're feeling about it all:

Now it's time for thanks. We'll start with one of these:

Now you'll need to add a few names, and a brief description of what they've done. Fill them out in the box below. Here's an example to get you started."There's Jenny, for making it down to the florist this morning and getting back through all the traffic, and Peter for making all those trips to the airport, and of course, Jane for that amazing cake.."

Now you could finish with thanks to the various parents involved.

And add their names here:

If you'd like to say something more to your parents or close friends, you could add some lines here. For example, you could say: "I haven't always done things exactly the way you might have expected, but you've always supported me, and I appreciate that more than I can say."

And now we're going to tell the story of how the two of you came to be here today. We'll start with the place you first met. Choose one of these:

Now name the place, or the occasion you first met, for example "my school reunion in 1992."

Then choose one of these:

and one of these:

And tell them how that first meeting was for you:

Now, we're going to talk about the effect you've had on each other since then.

Add your bride's name here.

Now choose one of these lines to describe her influence on you since then:

Start with a bad habit she's got you out of:

Put an example here, say: "party until three in the morning on a weeknight."

And now a bad habit she hasn't cracked:

Describe something you really ought to give up,but can't, say: "watching sport on TV when I should be out jogging"

Next, add a bad habit she's getting out of:

Finish the sentence off by describing something she's a bit shaky on - say "cheat at press-ups in aerobics."

Add a bad habit she's getting out of:

And finish this sentence off with some kind of bad "addiction" of hers that you're trying to bring to an end, say, chocolate chip cookies or a TV soap.

At this point, you could make it more interesting by telling a story or two. Can you think of a time when she did something that made you realise that it might be a good idea to make a change to your old ways? What did she do to make you give up? Don't worry if you can't think of anything right now, just leave a note here to remind yourself later.

Put your story in here:

Now you can go on to talk about some of the important reasons for getting married.

Start by choosing one of these options:

Then one of these:

And finish off with one of these:

Now say just a little more about your partner. Start by writing your bride’s name here:

And then choose one of these qualities:

And choose one of these

Of course these are just a few options. Use them as a guide for now, and work on them as you edit and practice your speech. Think about your partner. Are there some words to describe her more accurately? Just add them to your speech as they come to mind.

Now we're going to finish with a toast.

If you'd like to follow the conventional routine, you should toast your hosts, who are traditionally the bride's parents. On the other hand, you might like to do something novel. You might like to think about arranging each of the toasts around the same theme. Take your pick - a year, a favourite film or TV show, a sports team, a city. It gives you a chance to come at the speech from your own unique point of view, and make it more interesting.

So choose one of these:

And then add one of these:

And add the name of subject of the toast here:

To make it work better, you could lead up to this toast with a few lines setting the scene, by telling a story that explains why you've chosen the subject of the toast.

And that's it.

To see how the finished speech looks, just hit the "I DO" button, and you'll get the result on your screen.

If you want to change anything, just hit your "back" button and make a new entry.

This will give you a framework to build on - use it to practice and think about lines you'd like to add. By the time you get to the wedding, it'll be perfect.
